I was invited to try out for this project by director Remi Chaye after we had worked together in Kilkenny on The Secret Of Kells. I had shown him 3 large oil paintings which he admired.
My traditional painting experience and knowledge of Art History allowed me quickly adopt to the Post expressionist/Nabi influenced background style developed by Mr Chaye, Julien Bisaro and Art Director Jean Palenstkin for Jean Francois Laguione’s Film.
I was one of three painters on this project and contributed roughly 200 backgrounds in 6 months.
It was a treat to live and work with old friends in such a beautiful city as Paris.
I continued my relationship with Remi on the trailer for his film The long way North where I helped to develop his beautiful designs for composition, tone and color.
We spent many an hour drawing the people and city in the evening and weekends.
